Cancellations of 2021 IAU 24H and IAU 50K World Championship

因應Covid-19疫情在世界各國的發展情形，非常遺憾，總會必須宣布以下兩場錦標賽取消：
原定於2021年10月2日至 3日在羅馬尼亞舉辦的 2021 IAU 24H世界錦標賽（及同場WMA 24H世界長青錦標賽），與原定於2021年10月31日在台灣舉辦的 2021 IAU 50K世界錦標賽。
取消賽事的決定，是總會與各賽事主辦國的在地單位LOC共同做出的決定。
這兩場賽事，都是在考慮了在各主辦國如果要舉辦國際錦標賽，評估了目前現有的利弊風險後所做出的決定。每個主辦國的情況不同，但更重要的是，還需要考慮全球風險的差異。運動員和觀眾的安全是最重要的考量重，同時也為了確保世界各地的參賽者都有公平的機會參加世界錦標賽。
當然，IAU立即意識到這樣的決定讓超馬界很失望，但希望能夠期待所有人在 2022 年有更好未來。目前，2021年11月11日至14日在泰國清邁舉行的山徑越野世界錦標賽的籌備工作仍在繼續進行，但所有相關組織將繼續監測情況。

We are deeply sorry to have to announce the cancellation of both the 2021 IAU 24 hours World Championships scheduled for 2-3 October 2021 in Romania, together with the associated WMA 24H World Championships, and also the IAU 50K World Championships which were going to be held in Chinese Taipei on 31st October 2021.
The decision to cancel the events was taken jointly with the Local Organising Committee (LOC), the Romanian Athletic Federation and the WMA in the case of the 24H World Championships, and also the LOC the Chinese Taipei Association of Ultrarunners for the 50K World Championships.
In both cases the decisions were taken after consideration of all the current risks and benefits of holding international championships in the respective host countries. The local situations in each host country differed but, more importantly, we needed to consider the global variation in risks as well. The safety of the athletes and spectators were a priority as well as to make sure that the participants from all regions had a fair chance to take part in the World Championship.
We are acutely aware that this will cause a lot of disappointment in our community but hopefully we can look forward to a better picture in 2022 for all of us. Currently preparations for the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships in Chiang Mai in Thailand from 11th to 14th November 2021 continue to progress however all the organisations involved will continue to monitor the situation.
